To make your sites and maps more secure, starting August 5, 2024 ClubExpress customers are required to supply their own Google Maps API Key to enable Google Maps Integration.
ClubExpress integrates with Google Maps to allow the ability to show interactive maps in several modules, such as:
- Standard Membership Directory
- Business Directory
- Subgroup Finder
- and others
To enable this integration your organization must complete the following steps:
- Obtain a Google Maps API Key
- Apply your key to ClubExpress
Step 1. Obtain a Google Maps API Key
To see Google's pricing information and to obtain a key for your organization visit https://mapsplatform.google.com/pricing/
See our instructions to set up a Google Project and obtain the key.
If your organization already has a Google Cloud billing account then you should be able to quickly connect to the same account.
Google offers 28,500 maploads per month for no charge. For a majority of ClubExpress customers, this should be sufficient to enable Google Maps Integration with little-to-no added fee.
Once you've completed the sign-up process, you should receive a Google Maps API Key with your account.
Step 2. Apply your Key
Visit the Control Panel > Website Tab > Setup Section > Website Options and paste your API Key in the Google Maps API Key field.
Click SAVE at the bottom of the Website Options page.
You should now have the option to enable maps within any applicable modules.
To enable Google Maps Integration the Standard Member Directory, visit the Control Panel > People > Website Modules section > Standard Member Directory and check the Display Map box. Once that is done, a map should display with the location of members that share their address information.
Disabling Google Maps Integration
If you wish to disable Google Maps Integration for your site. Simply, return to the Website Options page, remove your Google Maps API Key, and click SAVE at the bottom of the page.
