To allow members to renew their memberships automatically you will need to have at least one member type available with an Automatic Renewal setting selected as its renewal type.
There are multiple options available for automatic renewal:
- Automatic Renewals - Select this option to configure the membership to renew automatically and to create a pending transaction on the member's account. The member will still need to log into the website in order to complete payment. When you select this option a new field will appear allowing you to enter the number of days before expiration the membership should renew. Enter the appropriate number of days.
- Automatic Renewal and Payment is Required - Select this option to configure the membership to renew automatically and to charge the member's credit card automatically. When you select this option a new field will appear allowing you to enter the number of days before expiration the membership should renew. Enter the appropriate number of days.
- Automatic Renewal and Payment is Optional - As above, except members have the option to not include payment information in which case their membership would still automatically renew and the system will create a pending transaction on the member's account just as with the first Automatic Renewals option.
- Optional Automatic Renewal and Payment - Finally, this option will allow members to choose to between automatic renewal with payment required and manual renewal and payment. The option to opt in/out of automatic renewal will appear each time they manually renew membership.
