The Formatted Description panel is where you will configure the full and detailed description for your event using one of three editing options.
Option 1: Formatted Text Editor
This is the easiest option for a simple, text-based event description. When you click the Formatted Text Editor button, a pop-up window will appear with simple text editing tools:
Aside from the common text editing tools, there are a few tools unique to your website:
- Headings: these options will apply the heading styles set in your Website Look & Feel Text Style settings.
- Link Builder: the link option allows you to create hyperlink to other webpages, documents and more. Links can appear as text, buttons, images, or QR Codes.
- Image/Photos: You can insert images from your web graphics or photo library by using the Image and camera icons.
- Media Embed: Videos from platforms like YouTube and Vimeo can be embedded int your description by pasting the video's embed code in to the media embed 'Play' icon.
Option 2: Advanced Editor
This option allows for more advanced designs and direct HTML editing of the description:
You can continue editing the sane description content made with the Formatted Editor by sing the Advanced editor, but once any edits are saved in the advanced editor, the Formatted Editor option will no longer be available.
Step 1. Build the Outline
Page Rows ensure the description displays properly on all screen sizes and contain cells which will hold all the formatted description content. You can access the Page Rows configurations by clicking the Red Toolbox icon on the advanced editor toolbar.
Place the cursor in the editing area of the Content Editor, then select the desired Page Row option from the Insert Page Row panel.
Making Changes to Page Rows
If you want to change the order of the Page Rows you selected or delete a row, select the row and use the icons to move the row up or down, or delete the row.
Step 2. Add Content to Page Row Cells
Use the tools in the Content Editor to add formatted text, photos, links and more to the formatted description. In this example, we will add an image and formatted text.
Good to Know
Using the Content Editor Tools
- Adding an Image: Select the cell you want to add the image to. The selected row will have a blue border, and the selected cell will have a solid black border. Select the Photos icon browse images saved to Photos, or the Images icon to browse images saved to Web Graphics, or to upload a new image.
- Adding Text: Select the cell for the text. Begin typing in the cell, using the text formatting options in the Content Editor.
If you would like to create or modify the HTML of your event description, click the <>HTML option in the lower left of the advanced editor window.
Option 3: Custom Page as Event Description
In place of creating an event description within the Formatted Description panel, you can select an active Custom Page and have its contents displayed as the description of the event.
This option gives you access to the all of powerful Custom Page widgets to be used as the landing page content of your event.
If you select a custom page, it replaces any existing event description on the event detail page. The custom page content is not shown or used in calendar tooltips, add-to-device details, or in the emailing module's event element. Instead, the Short Description from the Event Basics panel is used, so be sure enter you event details there. Any formatted or advanced description previously entered is saved and returns if you set the Custom Page selection back to 'Do not use custom page'
