You'll use the email canvas to create HTML templates and individual HTML emails.
Styles you set in individual emails will override styles you created in Email Default Styles.
We recommend only using the provided elements to ensure your email displays correctly in popular email programs.
If you use the HTML element, your email may not be formatted correctly in every email program. We recommend testing the email before sending it to your organization members.
Using Elements
The canvas includes tabs to drag and drop elements to your email and edit the style of individual elements.
Drag and drop an element to add it to your canvas. To drag an element to a different position, click and hold the “Drag” icon on the left side of the title bar, move the element to the new position, and drop it.
To edit an element and add content, click the Edit (pencil) icon. The content editor you see will depend on the section you added. Text sections open the text editor, and image sections allow you to browse your Photo and Web Graphics libraries. You can also insert links and add files to your email.
The HTML rendering engine in most email programs is significantly less powerful than in your browser. This is by design, to block an email in your Inbox from delivering a malicious package to your computer. When you use the other elements, we ensure that the content you create will render properly in an email viewer. When you use the HTML Section element, you can build a very complex page but it may not display properly when it’s delivered to your recipients’ inboxes. This is not something we can help with; solving problems in this element is beyond the scope of free support.
To Copy or Delete an element, click the appropriate standard icons.
Applying Styles to Elements
Clicking an element will highlight it with a blue border. Click the Element Style tab on the right panel to modify the appearance of the currently selected element on the canvas.
Change style as necessary and click Apply at the bottom of the panel to apply your changes or Reset to reset styles back to their defaults.
Changes you make to styles at the element level do not override changes you make within a text block using the editor.
If you center some text in the editor, then use the Element Style panel to change alignment to “Left”, the text you entered and then centered will still be centered.
Copying and Pasting Content
We suggest avoiding copying and pasting content into the email canvas to avoid adding unintended styles to your email. If you can't avoid it, you must paste content in Plain Text Only.
Most browsers will allow you to Right-Click and Paste as Plain Text. The built-in text editor also includes a button to paste your content into a textbox and strip the formatting before adding it to the canvas.
